Dear Funny Middle Easterners,

The goal of the Middle Eastern Comedy Festival is to markedly change the way we are perceived in Hollywood – and we need your creative and artistic talents!

The Festival is currently seeking submissions for short comedic sketches, as well as stand-up comedians, actors and directors.

The material does NOT have to be Mid-East-themed; it just needs to funny! It’s time to make the entertainment industry aware just how talented we are!

This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your work in front of the top casting directors, producers and filmmakers in the country, from every major network to every major studio.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL MECF IS JULY 15!

The Festival is divided into three comedic theater nights and one stand-up comedy night. The details for the submissions in each area are as follows:

Comedic Sketches: We are seeking comedic theater pieces which do not exceed 15 minutes in length written or co-written by Middle Easterners or those of direct Mid-East descent. The pieces can be one-acts or excerpts from a longer work.

Got Funny Characters? For the first time ever, the Festival will be accepting 1-min audition links to characters you've created, along with sketches revolving around those characters, so you can showcase them for agents, managers and other industry professionals.  To submit, please send an email titled "Character and sketch for MECF" with a link to the video [please do not send the full video via email].  If selected, not only will we produce your sketch but you get to star in it as well!

Stand-up Comedy: Please submit a DVD of 6-8 minutes of your stand-up comedy. The comedy does not have to be Mid-East-themed but comedians must be of Mid-East heritage. We will be mixing in the 'Headliners' with the 'New Faces,' so if you’re funny, we’ll find a place for you!
(You will, however, need to cover your travel expenses.)
